Obtaining a mortgage

During the process of obtaining a mortgage, you will be asked to provide at least some of the following:

- social security card (for all borrowers)
- a copy of each borrower's driver's license
- your last pay stub, covering 30 days and including your year-to-date earnings and SSN
- W2's for the last 2 years
- bank statements for the last 2 months, for every institution where you have money
- investment and retirement account statements for the last 2 months
- residence history for the last 2 years with landlord's contact information if applicable
- if you're self-employed, your tax returns for the last 2 years
- if you were a student in the last 2 years, transcripts or a diploma
- if you receive social security, a retirement or disability income, the award letter and most recent check
- if you receive or pay cdild support or alimony, the divorce decree
- if you're applying for a VA loan, the original Certificate of Eligibility and DD214

The mortgage company you use will run a credit check, which will be used to populate the debt section of your application.
